Making paper flowers with Quill London
Did my flower almost have you fooled? It’s made entirely from paper!
I was lucky to be invited to try out the new craft workshop from the gorgeous girls at Quill London. Having had success with their hugely popular Modern Calligraphy workshop, the stylish stationers are now hosting a monthly paper flower workshop in London with Susan Beech from A Petal Unfolds.
If you aren't already, I urge you to follow Susan on Instagram - she is an incredibly talented paper artist whose delicate creations require a ‘are they real?’ second glance.
Susan is also a really friendly teacher who took us beginners patiently through the steps of crafting a long-stem paper peony.
The workshop is 2-hours long. Yes, it takes 2-hours to make a single bloom! But it was hugely FUN and helped by sweet treats in the form of marbled iced biscuits by Honeywell Bakes and a pretty cake by S.K. Cakes decorated with you guessed it - paper flowers!
I won’t run you through the entire process (go book the class!) but we used templates to cut scores of different shaped petals from crepe paper to stick round a centre made from tissue paper fringing which was attached to a wire stem. We then covered this in green tissue paper and cut different shades of leaves.
I left feeling so inspired – I want to make more! And I’m not the only one. The workshop is already booked up until November, so keep an eye out for more dates here. At £44 each (including materials and light refreshments), it would make the perfect hen party activity.
